The very green national park with the reservoir in a fantastic landscape is a popular tourist destination and is only a little north of Khao Lak (driving time approx. One hour) and Phuket (driving time approx. Two hours). It is also visited from Krabi and Ko Samui. The main focus is on ecotourism and many activities are offered: from elephant riding (and washing), jungle trekking on foot, Canoeing, bamboo rafting, tubing, boat safaris
. The 739 km2 national park is covered by the oldest evergreen rainforest in the world, contains high limestone mountains that rise steeply into the sky (between 400 and 960 m), deep valleys, breathtaking lakes, dark stalactite caves, wild animals and exotic plants. Can be seen on wild animals: hornbills, elephants, asiatic ox, monkeys, gibbons, snakes, frogs and much more. The climate here is often more humid and rainier than in the south and even than in Khao Lak.
